Penelope MacDougall has always enjoyed dreaming. While she sleeps, she twists the threads of past, present, and future, weaving the bits and pieces together as she desires to form the perfect fairytale. In her dreams, she can forget, for a short time, the difficulties that plague her waking hours. 

Outside of her mind, however, things are far from perfect. Left orphaned and homeless from a fire that she herself started, Penelope now lives at a home for orphaned girls, while she tries desperately to create a future for herself out of the fragments of her past. When a series of catastrophic events causes her to slip into depression, Penelope finds comfort in her dreaming hours - and begins to discover the very real danger of playing with fate.

Ah, Digitalia, a completely fictional world- a perfect paradise for humankind inside a huge computer. It is the ultimate game, a second life, and for humanity it now IS their life. Pollution and overpopulation had devastated Earth several centuries ago, and the world leaders there and then decided they needed to save humanity. The creators of Digitalia, a huge company that evolved from Apple and Microsoft called Connect proposed the solution of storing everyone away in a PC game as data, where the land would never get spoiled no matter what humans did, and where no one could die. It was a grand idea funded by government money, and within ten years in 2090, everyone was evacuated inside the supercomputer holding the now very real world. But what happens now that several hundred years have passed and the computer is being encroached upon by Mother Nature? It seems that the perfect haven has become the perfect trap- but the Gamemasters, the immortal digitally-gifted members of Connected refuse to acknowledge this despite the fact that people are slowly being eaten alive from errors, and that the world is crumbling. A group of heroes must find an exit- when there never was one.

BOTLOR Covers... #4

Fairytales aren’t just for children anymore!
Welcome to Jackalopany!  Meet King Jack and Queen Felicia and their estimable children, Paisley and Jackson.  Paisley has reached the year of her majority and is about to endure her “Majority Ball.”  She’s unique, prank-loving, and not ready to change her life.  She’d rather continue her days herding sheep, playing her harp, and avoiding the responsibilities associated with the Jackalopian throne.
The shepherd Henry, Prince Rupert of Froggilandria, Kyle of Kaiandra, Marcus of Wellsbiundia, and the amusing Cletus of Rednecky all battle for the hand (and possibly the rest of) Princess Paisley.  Will Darius of Griffinlund foil the plans of so many?  Will tragedy leave the Jackalopian throne bereft of an heir?  And last but not least, will the narrator ever stop yammering about the rigors and rules of the fairytale genre?

Melancholia has always been a strange girl. After all, it would be hard not to be when you make everyone around feel miserable. From the moment she was born Mel has had this ability. When her mother and father leave with her younger sister to find Melancholia's older brother, who ran away, seven year old Melancholia is left with a nanny, called Miss Aviana. Mel grows up and Miss Aviana leaves. Mel is left all alone for several years, trying to learn how to do the simple tasks no one taught her. On her thirteenth(or is it fourteenth?) birthday she leaves to find her parents. Along the way she finds out that there are more secrets in her family then she thought.

BOTLOR Covers... #3: Classics Special

Today I thought I'd make BOTLOR covers for public domain classics. Yay!

The book was originally written in German and first published in English in 1884. It is a simple narrative of love between a girl and her grandfather, of the joy of helping others, of the beauty of nature, and of reverence for God.

Another BOTLOR post, since no one seems to need a cover lately. *sigh* Help...

I've noticed that Blogger has put an annoying frame around my images. It's okay, the frame won't be there if you download it. Make sure to copy and paste the "Credits" into any descriptions of your piece.

BOTLOR Covers... #1

This is basically me saying "I'm bored, please request covers" and then looking around at free Kindle books, classics, and other things and making covers for them. Heh heh. BOTLOR stands for "Because Of The Lack Of Requests", in case you were curious. This will also help build my "sample cover" portfolio, I guess. Self publishers, NaNoers, and basically anyone who isn't in traditional book publishing is welcome to use my covers provided you give me credit.















The Flock, by my NaNo YWP buddy Leah S. She doesn't have a cover, so I thought I'd make her one. Your story summary is terrific, by the way, Leah. There is a small watermark in the corner of it in case you don't have space to give me credit for it. If you want to use it, that is. I hope you like it...
