Cover: Beast by Elliot Parker

[A retelling of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale.] Years ago a Queen was cursed by a powerful wizard who transformed her beauty into an ugly beast. Horrified by what she had become the Queen hid herself away within her castle. As the years passed her kingdom slowly began to weaken. Attacks from outside forces became more and more common. Despite it all, the Queen remained locked within her castle, growing cold and bitter with each passing day. That is, until she showed up.

The design process:

You left this really open, and I love doing fairytale retelling covers, so this was a lot of fun. I knew I wanted a silhouette on a background straightaway to convey the feeling of the Queen's mystique, since she's hidden away in her castle, as well as to show how unclear the Queen's appearance was. I also loved the hand placement in this stock photo and snatched the opportunity to slip in a rose. After experimenting with some background and text effects, I settled on Perpetua Titling for your title and italicized Perpetua for the author text. I decided on the reflection for the "Beast" title to sort of show how the beastly side and the beautiful side of your Queen are just two facets of the same character - hopefully that worked!

The design process:

I knew that I wanted to do a double exposure as soon as I saw how much freedom you were giving me with the design. I thought it would fit the dark aspect of the cover really well, and besides, pictures of cities are usually clunky otherwise. (I was afraid this would turn out badly because I've never actually done a double exposure, but I'm really happy with it and I hope you are as well.)

The girl picture was easy enough to find - all I had to do was search 'white hair' on the deviantART stock database and soon enough this lovely model came up. Then for the background I had to search around a little bit to find an image big enough to work with. 

The double exposure took a bit of tweaking - after I completed the basic steps, I had to blur the background to get the perfect balance of background and girl. But adding the text after that was nearly painless - after I realized that Shipped Goods would fit the title typeface well, I fiddled with the color and layering a little until I got this lovely, bold red. And the author text was sort of a no-brainer. I kept it minimalistic to avoid distraction from the main features - the title and double exposure.

Overall, I modeled the design after the cover of Jackaby by William Ritter, with the sweeping cursive typeface and the bluish double exposure (ack, I keep repeating the phrase "double exposure"; it must be grating on your eyes).  I'm actually very proud of how it turned out, so I hope it fits your story nicely!

The design process:

 After reading the description of your piece, I immediately knew that I wanted a fire texture to go with the idea of fire elementals. After looking through the deviantART stock database, I went with this one. Naturally, I would have to add other elements of interest in order to make the cover pop more, so I thought using the hand as a symbol of power would work well. For the font, I experimented with cursive fonts for a while before going with something simpler. Cardo was used for the title, and High Tower Text was used for the author name.

Adayne wanted nothing but to spend her days working her family's farm, in spite of efforts to get her married off to a man to "take care of her." (And more importantly, her family's land.) She resists all comers, and the Rathkin family survives, even flourishes under her care.

Her world is flipped upside down when the carnivorous unicorns of legend steal her from her potatoes and whisk her away on a wild ride through the plains to their secret community. They aren't interested in her virginity, they don't seem to want to eat her, so what DO they want?

First cover I've done in a while, and certainly not my best, but hopefully it'll do.

Cover: Half-Cursed by K. A. Dusky

The curse split in half. A piece of it latched onto a dragon-hide bracelet and poor, baby Azeth. The two connected, so as the baby grew older, it was clear he wasn't fully human—but part dragon. The other half of the curse was more dormant and didn't show up as quickly. But when Raziel got stuck in a haunted forest, he, too, found himself changing, into something more or less like a tree. The two halves never came into contact with the other for fifteen years, until Azeth crossed the haunted forest that Raziel was trapped inside. Unfortunately, when the two met, the curse halves reacted and reformed the full curse—only held at bay by a cripple who seems to have a resistance towards magic. But when the cripple gets kidnapped, Raziel and Azeth's curse take a turn for the worse.

Lilly Nicole, leader of this group of weirdos, has been known dually since childhood as both the creep who can see your emotions on your breath and the helper of everyone who needs it. But as civil war threatens, both in the kingdom and in themselves, they will be put to the test in the worst ways possible and maybe--or maybe not--come out the other side as heroes.

He's fifteen, forty-one, and twenty-seven all at once-- at least, in terms of his personality.

But mostly fifteen.

Tyler isn't human, as far as he can tell. He has a patch of scales on his right shoulder, another set of arms at his sides. He really is quite peculiar. Barely managing a high-school for gifted students, and hiding both his scales and extra arms, he's constantly wondering why he's so different. His parents would know-- if only they were still alive.

After staying at the house of another girl, Florence Walters, for all of his first year of high school, Tyler realizes that she isn't so different from him.

Eagerly, he asks her parents about his deformities, only to receive an answer that makes Tyler realize that he has to leave immediately.
