An eleven-year-old girl named Mabel has dyslexia. She cannot read or write. She is an outcast in her school. Mabel has a twin brother named River. When Mabel overhears one of her parents' and River's conversations, she gets curious. Mabel soon finds out that she was genetically modified by a team of scientist, who were hired by the government. She has no birth parents. Something went wrong with the experiment that created Mabel, though. The scientists soon found out that she had the ability to move things with her mind. The scientists decided to give Mabel a medication to prevent from showing her ability. But the medication had a price. It caused her to have a form of dyslexia. When Mabel finds out she learns to adjust to her new life, but it isn't easy because some people are trying to track her down. One night when she is walking home, some people abduct her. Mabel finds herself trapped in a cell. She must get out but doesn't know how.
